We adopt the goal of being a university that fosters ‘creative individuals’ based on our founding principles that state: “Be the highest seat of learning for humanistic education”, ”Be the cradle of a new culture” and “Be a fortress for the peace of humankind”. The “Top Global University Project”, sponsored by the Ministry of Education supports the global development of Japanese universities and Soka University’s engagement obtained its highest appraisal of “S”, out of the five appraisal levels (S to D) for 2 years consecutively in its interim evaluation in 2017 and 2020.

Faculty of Education 4th year Mr.Koichi Uruma

I was born and raised in the US, and knew about Soka University when I started to think about my future. Since I had interest in child psychology, I decided to apply for the Faculty of Education. Attending the classes, I got inspired by the spirit of Soka Education that focuses on the potential of each child, and determined to become an elementary school teacher in the future. I will be a teacher that values the children’s thoughts and feelings!
